Jan. 25, 2023 - The director of the National Science Foundation (NSF) visited Wichita State University last week. The Honorable Sethuraman Panchanathan toured Wichita State’s National Institute for Aviation Research, WSU Tech and the National Center for Aviation Training as a guest of U.S. Senator Jerry Moran.

Jan. 9, 2023 — Wichita State University has moved into the list of the top 20 universities in engineering research and development (R&D) expenditures, according to the latest data compiled by the National Science Foundation’s Higher Education Research and Development Survey.

Dec. 12, 2022 — Almost 1,300 students are eligible to participate in Wichita State University’s 125th fall commencement ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 in Charles Koch Arena. Media are welcome to attend.

Dr. Delane Vaughn

Nov. 30, 2022 — Delane Vaughn loved science and her biology teacher at Mulvane High School – Joe Johnson – started her on a path to Wichita State University as the first person in her family to attend college. She worked, raised a family and attended WSU and the University of Kansas School of Medicine.

Oct. 21, 2022 - Andrew Stockmann, a 2020 Wichita State University graduate and sport management major, is in his second year hosting “Hallowed Ground: The Sports Museum Podcast.”

Future Innovators interns at NIAR

Oct. 20, 2022 — The FirePoint Innovations Center at Wichita State University wrapped up the second year of its Future Innovators Program, an engineering internship opportunity that provides some of America’s brightest engineers from historically under-represented communities the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and programs that directly support the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Center and the Department of Defense.

Oct. 19, 2022 — Following a national search, Wichita State University’s newly restructured alumni organization — the WSU Foundation and Alumni Engagement — has hired Stacie Williamson as its new vice president for alumni engagement, effective Nov. 28.

Oct. 10, 2022 — A weekend of ample research and little sleep at Wichita State’s National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) resulted in the selection of three NASA Space Apps Hackathon winners.

Oct. 5, 2022 — The Advanced Technologies Lab for Aerospace Systems at Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research held a grand opening for customers and partners. The event featured the unveiling of Solvay’s Manufacturing Innovation Center within the facility.

Wreath at Memorial

At 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, Wichita State will host the 52nd observance of Memorial '70, the annual ceremony that honors the 31 WSU football players, administrators and supporters who died in a 1970 plane crash in the Rocky Mountains. It will take place at the Memorial near 18th and Hillside.

A memorial at milepost 217, near the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70, is near the site of the 1970 plane crash in Colorado.

Sept. 6, 2022 - Wichita State University’s College of Innovation and Design announces Dr. Ryan Amick as one of our Innovators in Residence for the 2022-2023 academic year. Amick, a Wichita State alumnus, is a principal human factors engineer at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

Sept. 2, 2022 — The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) announced today will award $51.4 million to Wichita State University to aid in the rapid development and adoption of emerging smart manufacturing technologies for South Kansas.

Aug. 18, 2022 — At a media event and celebration today, Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research WERX and Erickson Precision Ventures LLC announced their first collaborative passenger to freighter conversion program of an Airbus 321.
